IMM was the first occupational health provider to support RGU student nurse placements as part of their degree programme. Anna’s arrival marked the second placement as part of our partnership with Robert Gordon University, School of Health.
Recently we have said a fond farewell to our occupational health work placement student, Anna Campbell.
During her eight-week placement with IMM, Anna – a second-year Adult Nursing student – has:
🔴 Provided occupational health support in the IMM clinic and at offsite locations
🔴 Conducted medical assessments, including screening, weight, height, blood pressure and BMI checks
🔴 Engaged with patients to gain a better understanding of their needs
🔴 Supported drug and alcohol testing for offshore workers at the heliport
🔴 Conducted phlebotomy procedures within clinical assessments
🔴 Gained practical insight through shadowing a travel clinic specialist
🔴 Helped deliver DSE assessments, ergonomic reviews, and health surveillance activities
This placement offered Anna practical insight into the diverse aspects of occupational health nursing, helping build hands-on experience alongside her degree at RGU.
Anna, from the Western Isles, said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time and learned so much from the team. Where possible, I have been actively involved in occupational health projects and supported by experts. One of the biggest things I’ve learned is the value of communication with clients. The placement has been a huge help to my development and I’m grateful to IMM for this opportunity.”
