He joined the energy industry in 1992 working within RGIT’s occupational health unit. He has been the author of a number of research papers and is an award winner for his work on a textbook on Occupational Health. He held the post of senior lecturer in occupational medicine at the University of Aberdeen and lectured extensively to post-graduate students. Within the oil and gas industry he worked for Capita’s Energy Division before joining BP as their North Sea Region occupational physician.

Dr Finlay joins IMM as principal Medical Director working alongside renowned fellow energy sector specialist Dr Graham Furnace, who has been with IMM since 2017, and our clinical team.
Susan Reid, General Manager of IMM said that “Having two of the top practitioners in occupational health in Scotland shows our determination to be the occupational health company of choice for the industry. Our Medical Advisory Service for Travellers Abroad (MASTA) travel clinic is now well recognised and is providing this essential service to both its industrial clients as well as to families and individuals going off on holiday.”

Topside cover is an essential part of IMM’s service and it formed a strategic partnership with CEGA to give 24 hour per day 365 days per year support and guidance to offshore medical staff. The two companies have worked closely since 2016 and have a sound track record of successfully providing emergency care to its patients. CEGA is part of the Charles Taylor Group who are one of the highest regarded professional insurance organisations in the global market. It was founded in 1884 and now has over 2,100 staff.

The services are not restricted to the oil, gas and renewables industries as the client portfolio continues to grow steadily. One of the recent major additions has been the fishing industry.
IMM believe that the computerised management system it uses offers the best control of data flow and is clinically secure and GDPR compliant.
